Common Lizard

There is one thing I look forward to in early spring it is the emergence of the Common Lizard, fortunately in Derbyshire there are a fair few places that you can go and study/count/and photograph these. So much so that I have found them in both upland and lowland Derbyshire.

They will emerge in late February or more typically in early March, when soon afterwards mating will take place. The young are born in July and August and are dark in colour.

Thanks for looking
